National Peace Officers Memorial Day
Today, on May 15, 2024, the annual National Peace Officers' Memorial service was held at 12:00 pm on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol. This solemn ceremony pays tribute to the brave law enforcement officers from across the United States who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. POA Director Matt Heady was in attendance representing our Association.
In 1962, President John F. Kennedy designated May 15th as National Peace Officers Memorial Day, and the week in which this day falls as National Police Week. This time allows us to reflect on the valor and sacrifices of our peers.
The Long Beach POA will always remember and honor the courage of those who have fallen. We remain committed to supporting their families and carrying the legacy of our heroes with pride and dedication.
Thank you for standing together in remembrance today.
